The ΕρΓΑ Lab was founded in 2002 and is headed by Professor Ioannis Emiris, currently President and Director General of ATHENA Research Center.
The Lab is affiliated with ATHENA Research & Innovation Center and the Department of Informatics & Telecommunications, National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. It is part of the joint team AROMATH affiliated with INRIA Sophia-Antipolis (France).
ΕρΓΑ addresses the entire spectrum of problem solving, starting with algorithm design, and software development up to application to real world questions. In particular, our expertise lies in the following domains:
- study and solution of polynomial equations and systems: sparse / structured systems, resultants, and root counts;
- symbolic-numeric computation, exact vs approximation computing, structured matrices;
- computational geometry: proximity (Voronoi) diagrams of complex shapes, and convex hull in general dimension;
- convex and combinatorial geometry: mixed volume, and convex volume by approximation algorithms for sampling and random walks;
- metric geometry, dimensionality reduction, high-dimensional similarity search, and clustering,
- mathematical modeling of the physical world: geometric modeling, VLSI design, bioinformatics, rigidity theory, robotics, fintech.
- regression, forecasting, and geometric deep learning.
Our dedicated office space is room A8, 1st floor of the department’s building at the NKUA Campus.
