Location

The school will be held at the OAC conference center, by the village of Kolympari (or Kolimbari), 22 km west of Chania, Crete, itself 17 km west of Chania's International airport. It combines a great location with accessibility.

Travel

AIR

The recommended airport, closest to the conference site, is Chania International Airport (CHQ) (http://www.hcaa-eleng.gr/hania.htm). There are about 6 flights daily from Athens to Chania, with Olympic Air or Aeagean Airlines. There are also direct flights to Chania and Heraklion from certain European cities. Heraklion International Airport is at 140 km east of Chania.

OAC, marked (B) on the Map below, is located 39 km west of the CHQ airport, which is marked (C) on the Map below. We arranged for a couple of bus transfers from the airport to OAC on Sunday (03/10/10), one at 18:30, one at 19:30 and and one at 21:30. Otherwise, the easiest way to reach the conference site from the airport is by taxi; full fare, including airport surcharge, is around 50 Euro. Another way is to go by taxi to Chania's Bus Terminal and take the bus to Kolympari (line Chania - Castelli), see schedules at: http://www.cretetravel.com/Bus_schedules. The bus stop at Kolympari is at about 1 km from OAC.

If you fly to Heraklion, you may reach the conference site either by taxi (one-way fare around 140 Euro) or by bus from Heraklion to Chania (one bus per hour, line Heraklion-Rethymnon-Chania, duration about 3 hours), then to the OAC as explained above.

SEA

Chania has 1-2 daily sea connections with the port of Piraeus, which is about 10 km from the Athens center and is connected to the Athens Airport by subway and by bus lines. The port serving Chania is at Souda, marked (D) on the Map below . For schedules see ANEK Lines (http://www.anek.gr/). General info can be found, e.g., here: http://www.greekislands.gr/, or http://www.greekislands.gr/. To reach OAC by bus, one needs to go through Chania.
